Foregin Policy DetailsIn a globalized world such ours, foreign policy (foreign relations policy) is a key element that all countries should very aware of and carefully plan in order to have any possibility to achieve their goals in terms of national security and international goals. Foreign policy is a planned strategy that will allow a country to interact successfully with other countries. Efforts on this area should be directed towards peaceful relations and cooperation. As far as the United States is concerned, the Obama administration has based their foreign policy on several guiding principles. Beginning with ensuring the safety of all American people, based on values and by utilizing the full capacity of the American power to achieve these goals. Dialog will be considered as the first step in any negotiation, even when force is the only way that some individuals can be met. These goals can be summarized as achieving international order, supporting our values, guaranteeing the safety of the American people, and the growth of the economy of the U.S. There are 8 main objectives that the US foreign policies are based upon, we will briefly discuss them in no particular order, but rather randomly. Lets start by talking about the importance of maintaining core American values. It has been established that all decision should be made based on our democratic foundation. A clear example of this can be seen in Guantanamo Bay being closed and the prohibition of any kind of torture. Detainee policy is also being reviewed. A very interesting factor that has been given a great deal of importance is the restoration of the American leadership in Latin America. Concepts like equality, mutual respect, economic growth, etc that if really applied can be very beneficial for both sides. For those citizens who are not familiar with the concept of foreign policy, it may come as a surprise that it has an entire section related directly to the climate changes and green US foreign policies. The United States is far from being an exception, and it actually intends to be a leader in this field. In terms of the environmental and energy issues, American foreign policy will invest billions of dollars in the next decade in research oriented to developing clean energy and reduction of fossil fuels. In other type of foreign affairs, the U.S will invest lots of time and effort to re-energize its alliances. In order to do so, US foreign policies are based on values such as honest dialog, mutual respect and commitment. Clear example on efforts to comply with these policies can be illustrated with the visits of president Obama to the G-20 the 60th Anniversary NATO, and the U.S-E.U. Summits. Other efforts have been directed to the Muslim world, and Asia. Other policies include addressing the Al Qaeda threat, the end of the war in Iraq, stopping terrorists from gaining access to nuclear weapons, and promoting peace and security in Israel and the middle east.
